Program Event
Pot Luck and Tech Stuff
Thursday, February 17, 2005
6:30- 8:30 PM
One of our newest members, Sandy Moniz, is the director
of the computer clubhouse, a computer lab for disadvantaged
youth, at the Eden Youth Center in Hayward. She has
invited our branch to a have pot luck and to explore
her computer lab. She currently has about 100 students
who come on a drop in basis to learn computer skills.
She says, "Currently there are more girls than
boys in the program."
The computer lab is fully equipped, the students
learn graphic design, desktop publishing, animation,
digital camera, and more. There is even a small music
studio where students can record their own digital
music and put it on CD's. Some of the work is special
projects she designs for them and some of it is work
they are doing in their own classes. You will see
student work and be able to try out the equipment
yourself. Come and bring your questions. This is a
great opportunity to see what Hayward is doing for
our young people and visit with their very enthusiastic
teachers plus meet a new member of AAUW.
Eden Youth Center is located at 680 Tennyson Rd in
Hayward, across the street from Cecil's hamburgers.
Please phone to say you are coming and what you are
bringing to share. This event is free of charge.
