This is a great way to spend an evening when the kids have no homework to do, so bring them for a special treat as well as the whole rest of the family.

The Tech Trek Program Needs Your Support
Last year our branch was able to send four (4) girls to Tech Trek, due in part to individual donations from branch members. The branch regularly budgets enough money to send two (2) girls, but we’d love to be able to send more.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Tech Trek program, held each year at Mills College, it offers seventh-grade girls a week of hands on learning about careers in the science and math fields. They live in a communal dorm, attend math and science related classes given by women working in various fields, like biology, chemistry, marine biology, animal husbandry, engineering, etc. A highlight of the week is a trip to the Chabot Space and Science Center where they participate in a Mission to Mars scenario acting out roles in command control, navigation, medical, geology, etc. The interest and camaraderie is just fantastic and is, I’m sure, a life long memory for most of them.

Please think about making a personal contribution to this worthwhile program. Any personal contribution will be greatly appreciated. Please send your personal, tax-deductible check to Evelyn Gertler. Please indicate in the memo field that the donation is for Tech Trek.

If you have any questions please call Evelyn. Thanks.

Evelyn Gertler, Tech Trek Chair
