War on Terror: Winning the Hearts and Minds of Afghan Women through Education

Dr. Edna Mitchell has many years experience as a professor of education and an administrator in higher education including institutional leadership in educational program planning, development, and evaluation; and creation of the internationally recognized Women's Leadership Institute at Mills College, which is recognized as an official NGO of the United Nations.

Her international experience includes three years as a consultant to the Ministry of Education in Nepal, a year as a Fulbright Professor in Hungary, a year as a professor and Associate Dean at Zayed University in the UAE working in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

She was employed as an Education Specialist in 2004-2005, working for Creative Associates, Inc., a USAID project in Kabul, Afghanistan, on assignment to the Ministry of Higher Education to assist on projects of priority in restoring infrastructure in higher education.

In October 2005 she returned to Kabul on special assignment as a consultant to the newly created American University of Afghanistan to create an academic master plan for the University. If you have any questions, please contact Asha.
